About Robbie

Robbie Katter is the Leader of Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) and the Member for Traeger.

Born and raised in Charters Towers, Robbie has always been deeply connected to the heart of Queensland.

Moving to Mount Isa in 2001, Robbie quickly became involved in the local economy, running his own small business and building a 16-year career in property valuation. A two-year stint in the mines gave him a practical understanding of the issues local workers and industries face.

Before entering state politics, Robbie served on the Mount Isa City Council for four years. In 2012, he was elected as the State Member for Mount Isa and later for the expanded Traeger electorate, which includes his hometown of Charters Towers. Robbie’s work continues to focus on representing the people of Traeger while also working to solve broader issues impacting Queensland as Leader of the KAP.

Outside Parliament, Robbie remains active in the community. He’s a former high-level rugby league player and still takes part in local sports. He also enjoys performing in local theatre and taking his daughters to local activities and community events. As a qualified pilot, Robbie uses his skills to stay connected with the vast Traeger electorate and the people he represents.

Robbie is committed to real action – delivering and defending jobs, tackling crime and building stronger communities. He stands for individual freedom, a fair go and the North West’s way of life. Robbie knows Queensland needs leaders who get things done – whether it’s tackling crime, creating jobs or delivering the infrastructure Queenslanders need.

Robbie and his wife Daisy live in Mount Isa with their three children, Peaches, Rosie and Georgina.
